I have and let me just tell you...it was the worst movie I have seen in a really long time. I laughed throughout the entire movie...it was that badly done. The acting was terrible. The script was even worse. The story was choppy and uber cheesetastic. The directing and camera angles were just plain sad. Jasper looked constipated the entire movie. All I could think about when I saw Carlisle was his character in Can't Hardly Wait. Edward looked like he was about to vomit constantly. And Bella had a hard time speaking in complete sentences and not looking like she was autistic. But that just my opinion and that of several people I know. Other people liked it. Really smart and intelligent people. People that I trust. I don't understand it. I do however, suggest you go see it for yourself and make your own judgements. If you don't like it, then we'll have so much fun talking about it. :)
I haven't seen the movie yet, but Gretch and I are planning on seeing it soon with some of our friends. I am expecting to enjoy it, mostly because I am one of the folks who realises that films and books are very different media and therefore, don't really deserve to be compared with a "which is better" attitude.
I'm an Esme too. I agree with Rhia Jean on her opinion, but I wasn't expecting much, so I wasn't let down. I still found it entertaining, but it was poorly done.
I am ALICE!!!! Surprise!!! Who hearts makeovers and throwing parties?? ME!!!
I saw Twilight and while I agree with Rhia about the awfulness of every one of the actors mentioned(especially Kristen Stewart who I consider DID NOT act- but played her own annoying self- she even has mini-seizures in her interviews) I thought it was sooo over the top bad that it was one of the more enjoyable movies experiences I have had in a while and I'll prolly see it again to bust a gut another time.
I'm an Esme too. I haven't seen the movie either but I plan on seeing it as soon as I get to Utah for Christmas. I am keeping my expectations really low so that I will be pleasantly surprised. Or at least I will get a good laugh.
um...i guess i am alone in this, but i actually really liked the movie. it was just like the books, cheesy, made for teenagers, written kinda poorly, and SO fun! yep, i liked it.
I'm an Esme too. And I really don't think I want to go see the movie. I liked the books and I think I would like to keep my idea of what things look like rather than have it ruined by the movie.
I'm an Esme as well. I didn't think that the movie was bad, but I agree about Rhia's comment re: Carlisle - I kept waiting for him to say something about "Trent McNeely. All right!"
Jasper looked like he was on meth.
And I saw the girl who plays Bella on TMZ blazing up her bong.
I saw it too and had a good laugh here and there. NO one looked as good on the screen as they do in my head, but what can you expect. I also wanted to ask you, and I realize I am a little late in asking permission since tomorrow is Sunday, but I am teaching the young women and we are talking about careers. That post you did about quitting the law and becoming a mommy was so sweet and I am hoping to use you as a wonderful example for the girls. I hope you don't mind. And see the movie. It wasn't that bad.
"To you women of today, who are old or young, may I suggest to you that you write, that you keep journals, that you express your thoughts on paper. Writing is a great discipline. It is a tremendous education effort. It will assist you in various ways, and you will bless the lives of many--now and in the years to come, as you put on paper some of your experiences and some of your musings." --President Gordon B. Hinckley

But I'll let you know when I've seen it ;)

THe acting was bad. The story was choppy and cheesy.Ditto to Jasper constipated. With that being said, you still need to see it.
