Really, Lakers? That's all you got?

I know, Phil. My sentiments exactly. Even with the league MVP on the roster, the best we can do is crumble like sniveling little girls on the court. I embarassed. I feel shame.

Chin up, Zen Master. We at least still like you, even if we despise Kobe!

Ummm, rough crowd...

No one wants to send any LA hate or Boston love?

ok, my new vter, I am from CA and I don't really love the Lakers, I thought it a mistake to keep Kobe over Shaq. (Shaq and I are tight!) But I have to say I agree with your sentiment but there are four other players on the court, right? They could step it up too! :0)

I have to be honest...I have absolutely ZERO sympathy for Laker fans. In 60 years of existence, you've only failed to make the playoffs five times. You've won 14 titles, second only to Boston. You've had legend after legend play in the purple and gold. You've become perhaps THE crown jewel franchise of the NBA and one of the biggest in the world-right up there with the Yankees and Manchester United.

Laker fans follow a team that has lead one of the most charmed existences of any professional sports franchise in the history of the planet. Meanwhile, some of us follow our teams through either annual post-season disappointments or painful, frustrating regular seasons seemingly every year (see Blues, St. Louis; Fighting Illini; University of Illinois) and are rarely, if ever, rewarded by having our team as the last one standing. Heck, you no doubt actually REMEMBER the Lake Show's last title since it only happened, what, four years ago? So, take your "suffering," your self-pity, your SoCal-sunshine-soaked agony and stuff it. You will get NO sympathy from THIS long-suffering fan!

That said...I was still kind of rooting for you guys over Boston. But, never fear...you guys are supposed to be even better next year. Should be interesting.

well, in my own defense, i'll remind you all that I am a UCLA fan. I know a thing or two about loving a team through losing season after losing season. (Not that my beloved Bruins are going to have a losing season this year...) :)

Ummmmmmmm...you mean the same UCLA that has an NCAA-record 11 national titles in men's basketball? The same UCLA that has 100 total national championships in all sports, also an NCAA-best? The same UCLA that resides on a gorgeous campus with some of the best-looking coeds on the planet?

Yeah...still not buying the sympathy push. You're gonna have to try a lot harder than that. :)

I mean the UCLA that has sadly seen year after year of defeats in the Rose Bowl while that liar/cheater Pete Carroll prances around my beloved Southland claiming victories that don't belong to him.

If anything tests the staying power of a fan, it's got to be having share your football town with USC.

I was cheering for Boston only because I couldn't bring myself to cheer for Kobe. But Phil rocks!

Hey, we're in the same conference as Michigan and Ohio State. We have TWO cheating powerhouses to deal with. Oh, and I forgot to mention those bandwagon-hopping Penn Staters, as well.

Why don't you just give it up and admit that you've got it pretty good?

Ok, if I had to guess, I would have thought that the only arguer in your family would have been Tamara. And let's face it I KNOW HR folk. But Adam, I stand totally corrected and good luck on winning this one!
